Great work so far Andrew, keep it up! This is so much fun to watch. Those of us that know these peaks realize what a tremendous effort you've put in already. Hope the weather cooperates in the Elks and you have a safe efficient journey through them. I've been listening to your podcasts the last couple days, very inspiring.

Thank you Andrea for all the frequent updates here and on Instagram!

Here are stats for Day 4. Hopefully, a long transition yesterday allowed some "battery recharge" and the Elk push goes well. Keep up the good work Andrew and team!

I've added subtotals by range showing % complete for each range. You'll notice the entries for Elk reflect partial for Cathedral (where he is now) but the distances and times don't yet show up in the daily totals since he hasn't completed Catehdral yet (those will show up on Day 5 tomorrow)

Cathedral/Castle down, and heading to Pyramid. I'm disappointed that he didn't spend at least a few minutes to take a dip in Conundrum Hot Springs as he passed by!

That's a long hike from Castle to Thunder Pyramid, but I guess still faster than any alternatives, especially since no cars are allowed on Maroon Creek Road after 8 am.

I'm thinking he'll go to Thunder Pyramid then to Pyramid via the blue track on his map and wonder if he'd start up this late in the day...

Forecast shows clearing weather through overnight. I'm guessing they will do Thunder/Pyramid, descend standard down to Crater Lake, then hit South Maroon->traverse->North->blue line descending west towards Snowmass. Hopefully they can summit Pyramid before it gets too dark, then they'll do most of the Bells in the dark and try to get down before any storms start tomorrow. He's done the North Maroon/Snowmass traverse in the past going the opposite direction.

I ask this question as one who has waited at the trailhead observing in amazement the Hamilton crew in operation. There is quite a lot of logistical genius behind the scenes with Andrew, obviously, but others as well. All the blue tracks that shows up on the map show how much recon went into the preparation to make this possible.

Given that context, here’s my question, it would appear the big cross country traverse from castle to thunder, is going to take around 8:30 and involves alot of tedious, loose, off trail tiring effort. Given the fact he ascended cathedral in 3 hours, the descent off castle back to montezumza would have been 2 hrs ish, then drive around to maroon lake, and ascend pyramid in 3 hrs ish. Seems like this would have been faster and way less tiring.

Did he want another go at the big elk 100 traverse, even though it takes more effort to link castle and pyramid groups off trail? I get linking snowmass, capitol and the bells is more efficient, but castle- thunder doesn’t appear that way? Or is it really the most efficient way?

Question: N. Maroon is not a Centennial peak, so I would assume that Andrew would forego the Maroon/N. Maroon traverse, unless that is the best way to reach Snowmass Creek anyway, or if he wants to complete the complete Elk Range traverse for sporting reasons. Does anyone know the actual plans?

I wondered this too. Someone earlier mentioned the Maroon Lake accessibility issue, and I suspect that's the main driver. Need reservations for the road, and I doubt they were able to secure them. It also would have added another hard date to the itinerary, and flexibility has been crucial so far due to weather. The style points may be a factor as well.
