I read his book first ''Three Cups of Tea'' two years ago, couldn't wait for this one, Greg Mortenson deserves a Nobel Peace Prize!
I am currently reading his new book as well. Loved the first one and this one is shaping out to be just as good.

Currently reading "Snow Leopard" by Peter Mathhiessen.

In the past two months I have read the following:

The Long Walk - Slavomir Rawicz
K2 - Ed Viesturs
Touching the Void - Joe Simpson
Born to Run - Christopher McDougall

I highly recommend all of these for anyone who loves good adventure reading.

Die Trying. It's a book I probably could write in about 5 years... unless I live the title...

I finally picked up a copy of Merle's Door but I don't know how fast I will get to read it with full time school, a full time corporate america job, a wife, and actually getting outdoors.

So far, an extremely interesting read. After page 16, I was hooked.

I'll have to take a look at that, "Die Trying" book. Looks interesting.

Very good book so far. Pat Tillman was an amazing person
I just finished this one and would recommend it. The story of Pat Tillman is a great one.....although I'm not much of a fan of the author (Krakauer). He could have left his political views out of the book....

kimo wrote:My last complete read was "14er Disasters" by Scott-Nash. It was riveting, hard to put down, and I finished it in just a few nights.
I found this particularly appropos (Lou Dawson):

My foreword for the book was difficult to write. But rather than fluffing over the subject of criticizing accident victims (including myself), for better or worse I decided to tackle the task with as much honesty as I could muster. To that end, I conclude that the underlying causality with many 14er accidents is a simple lack of respect for the mountains. Lack of map reading, lack of correct gear, poor decisions — all rising from an attitude of frivolity or just plain disrespect that some climbers seem to promulgate, almost as if they’re teasing the mountains like a child pushing parental buttons. Only when you get spanked by a mountain, it doesn’t care how loud you cry.
