"In all his years of climbing, the famed mountaineer has never had an injury like this.
'It’s embarrassing,' he said."

One of the best responses to the media I've seen after being rescued. I climb enough as to where this could be me someday, and I'm ticked he stole my line.

I had a friend who visited Gerry last year so that he could sign a couple of her books. During their conversation, Gerry mentioned that while "40 is the new 30, 80 is just 80." I'm in my late 50s, and the first signs of diminishing physical skills has arrived. But compared to most 50-somethings, not too much to complain about I suppose.

Wishing for a quick and speedy recovery.

a fall like that, and to bounce back like that, hat's off. I met your wife on the bike trail between Delta and Montrose, I felt like I was talking with royalty.

I hope you move on to suggest 90 is the new 80, whatever the f*** that might mean in real life.

I once cartwheeled 300' and it cost me a tooth.

Let's hear other stories of people who have cartwheeled more than a turn or two.

I hope he recovers quickly. Still climbing the tough 13ers at 79 wow.

Also hats off to SAR for what sounds like a lot of good work to get Gerry out of there.
