Re: RIP Rob Jansen (rjansen77)
My condolences to his family and friends. Although I never met Rob, I have a son about the same age, and I can't imagine how much his parents are hurting right now. The Holy Cross TR was very touching - I'm glad his Dad got to climb with him this summer.

Re: RIP Rob Jansen (rjansen77)
I never met Rob, but am friends with someone that knew him well. I can tell by the effect this news has had on my friend (as well as others in this community), that Rob was loved by all who knew him. He was obviously a person who brought out the best in all people and left a positive etch in their lives forever. If only we all could have been lucky enough to have known him. I only hope that I can have the everlasting effect on people's lives that Rob evidently did.
To all of his friends and family - I know that there are no words that can ease the pain. But you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Know that there are many people people thinking of you as you attempt to move past this terrible event.

I only knew Rob briefly, but I offer my condolences to friends and family. Rest in peace my friend.
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

I was lucky to climb four 14ers with Rob, three of them on the same day! Rob was happy every moment while climbing, and always kind and self-deprecating. His easy confidence and grace in the mountains makes his loss more shocking. I have seldom been so moved as by the news of this tragedy.

Ever smiling, trail blazing, helpful and humble guy! It was an honor knowing him and to be in the mountains with him a couple of times. Terrible loss. Dillon, Greg, Dan, Tyler and Jeff, my condolences.
I've also read his TRs on hikes with his dad and they seemed like a very close knit family. Condolences to them and hope they get the courage to cope through this.

Just heartbreaking. A young man with wisdom beyond his years. That Holy Cross TR, especially, was a fine tribute to father and son. RIP.

Reading his trip report of Holy Cross with his father; just made me bawl in my office...

How amazing that someone so young could have touched so many--he seemed to have lived life to its utmost fullest--and how sad that we lost someone so young and full of life. I pray for his friends' recoveries. Rest in peace, Rob.
