Re: Gerry Roach
Teresa, I tried to be positive about my suggestion. Why did you try it nonsense? Who wrote a rule that anybody must be first dead before he/she can be named after anything?

Re: Gerry Roach
I have two of his books. Not only very helpful but an entertaining read. Impressed he is out there at 79. Hoping for a full recovery for him.

Re: Gerry Roach
Best wishes on a speedy recovery. Your original Colorado 14ers book is the reason I started climbing. Wishing you a full recovery.

Re: Gerry Roach
Mary Cronin was dead for 23 years before “North Carbonate” was (re)named after her.
Gerry might have some choice words about the peak he fell from (just ask him!), but I suspect if any peak were to be named after him, he’d prefer ANOTHER get the nod.
All the same, I’d wager money we’ll all be bumping into Gerry and Jennifer up high for many years to come.

Re: Gerry Roach
Gerry's 1st edition of the 14er guidebook had a profound effect on the direction of my life. I just don't know if there is anyone whose name is more synonymous with 14ers than Gerry Roach. Gerry, I wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you climbing well into your 100s...

Re: Gerry Roach
"Colorado Fourteeners" (photo of my first copy) was my bible when I first arrived in Colorado in 1988. The book was in my pack, yeah, the full book, for years. It got me up and, more importantly, down some of my favorites from Longs Peak to Capitol. Thanks, Gerry and Jennifer, for all you have done and keep doing for the mountaineering community. Get well soon.
P.S. A few fun facts about Gerry: After climbing Mount Everest in 1983, Gerry became the second person to climb the highest peak on each of the 7 continents in 1985. In 2003, Gerry became the first person to climb every major peak over 16,000 feet in North America. Gerry received the Sierra Club’s coveted Farquhar Lifetime Achievement Award for mountaineering in 2005 and the Colorado Mountain Club’s rare Ellingwood Golden Ice Ax Award in 2006.

Ha, Alan, I have the same copy in somewhat tattered shape from being in my pack on dozens of trips!
