Re: 2 lost pack llamas
not a bad idea but we know generally where they are but it's not assessable. think mountain goat terrain and a 70 year old women. but get this, with llamas you can use their poop pellets. funny huh. they generally go back to the TH they started at and they are in that area so we brought some bags from their poop piles and piled by where the trailer was parked. LLamas are tidy and use the poop piles (:

This would make an amazing movie if shot from the llama's perspective. Or even as a documentary. "Touching the Void" but you know: staring a llama, with llama interviews.

Re: 2 lost pack llamas
Lost Llamas Update. Thanks to all who have posted and/or reported sighting. After much searching, camping, climbing we have been able to recover one llama and gear. They have been up on a ridge over looking the West Fork at 12,600" Doing their mountain goat imitation. We were unable to catch them up there but then one finally came down and was caught on a ranch above Ridgeway. Hoping the other one will follow his lead. So still out one llama and his gear. He has been spotted with no panniers or saddle but still has his halter and is dragging his lead rope. any sightings or coordinates for either animal or gear is much appreciated. Thanks Lisa

Thank you for updating this thread, I was wondering about them over the weekend. Hope you get the other one back soon.

Did you get the other one back? I know they got some snow in that area?

no not yet. we are hoping the snow will bring him down where we would be able retrieve him. He was still up where he has been for a long time. we have been there and tried to catch him but were unsuccessful. any news or sightings are still appreciated. He's brown with a white neck and chest.

Can llamas survive a San Juan winter?
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

How do your llamas respond to drones? Is it possible to drive or lead the animal down to an area where it can be retrieved?
