It pretty much matches what CalTopo shows.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
i looked at it some time ago and the legal boundary is very much a gray area established in the 1800s or so, the line on a map is not exactzzcarp wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 1:33 pm I'm sure the intent is that the property line for the ranch follows the ridge line. That is also the county line between Costilla and Huerfano Counties, and the definition would almost certainly follow the ridge. Most likely the exhibit was just traced in Google Earth and is not the legal boundary.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
I have been contacted by the ranch representatives and they asked me to get the word out about the opening via a waiver requirement. I’m just waiting for clarification on a few items before I update the site & apps.
I’m guessing there will be some other formal announcement via CFI or other outlet.
This is exciting news!
More to come…

This is super exciting! Eagerly awaiting official announcement.
Not that I'll head out there to do it in winter, haha. But I know a few folks who have been waiting to finish, and they're going to be so stoked!!
Thanks for the updates, Bill!

Bill, is one of the items a confirmation of the accessibility of the Northwest Ridge route, or the lack thereof?BillMiddlebrook wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 2:46 pm I’m just waiting for clarification on a few items before I update the site & apps.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
This is awesome news! I seem to remember seeing something about it being too rough for sedans up past the Singing River Ranch, but that private property caused parking issues past that. I can't find anything like that now so maybe I am making that up?

Yessir. My guess is that both will be included but I hope to get clarification.Ed_Groves wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 3:30 pmBill, is one of the items a confirmation of the accessibility of the Northwest Ridge route, or the lack thereof?BillMiddlebrook wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 2:46 pm I’m just waiting for clarification on a few items before I update the site & apps.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
No, you are not making that up. One clarification: the people who own Lindsey are not the same people who own the Singing River Ranch, so the re-opening of Lindsey is a separate issue from access thru the ranch. You are allowed to drive thru the Singing River Ranch to access the National Forest but you can't park or camp on the ranch. So if the road is too tough for your vehicle then you have to park at the SWA and walk about 5 miles to the National Forest boundary. The good news is that most vehicles seem to be able to drive that far even if they can't get all the way to the end of the road.

Five miles on a bicycle you packed is pretty quick!

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
I forgot about that possibility. I've even heard of hard core folks who would just ride their bike all the way from Boulder.
