I would say no news on this from CFI likely means there's nothing immediate on the horizon.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
Bumping this back into view. I assume there is no new information on this. It would be nice if CFI, or any other involved parties, could give us an occasional update, even if just to say that nothing is on the horizon yet.MaryinColorado wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 9:01 am I would say no news on this from CFI likely means there's nothing immediate on the horizon.
I am not questioning the fact that you heard this, but is there a source for this statement that we can refer to?CaptainSuburbia wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 4:49 pm Last I heard they're still working on the website for the online waiver system. An announcement will be made here when finished.
Good point.

This appears to have popped up with little fanfair. https://www.mountlindseywaiver.com/ Did I miss a post about this somewhere else? If not - this is fantastic news! I climbed Huerfano / Iron Nipple several years ago with our plans to do Lindsey on the same trip but then plans changed. This is a very welcome development.

I saw it, too, but it may be under construction. Also, I noticed the route they specify is only the "gully" route, not necessarily the ridge direct. Many of us don't use the standard, gully route once the snow is gone.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
I had noticed that about the route as well as I have always planned to do the ridge direct. It's progress though.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
Thanks! This is progress. I, too, had planned on doing the ridge direct route. I guess something is better than nothing, but I hope the owners consider adding it to the waiver.James Jennings wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 8:33 am This appears to have popped up with little fanfair. https://www.mountlindseywaiver.com/

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
That would be a real bummer from a enjoyment and safety perspective to (by the book) constrain everyone to the gully route. A few years ago I believe someone lost their hand due to a rockfall accident in the gully. Pushing everyone to the gully would only increase the risk IMO.
I don't see any contact info on the website, so hopefully whoever (CFI, CMC, ect) does can get the ridge route approved/added to the site.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
Actually the gully route is enjoyable IF... BIG IF... you don't climb the gully directly. I stayed right of the gully and climbed the rocks. Easy class 3 scramble on fairly stable rock all the way to the choke point at the top. It bypasses the vagaries of the ridge where you can get into class 5 fairly easy... as a few folks in my group learned. We met on the final summit ridge and they weren't too happy about their decision. I was about 10 minutes ahead of them. They followed me down the class 3 gully variation.
I still think Lindsey is one of the prettier hikes with great views from the summit.

Re: Mount Lindsey Closure
Great news indeed! I was hoping to do the ridge direct route but I am just glad to hear anything is being opened so will follow the route allowed!

You know, route finding can be difficult and it's possible that one may get lost en route and accidentally end up on the ridge and then return via the gully.James Jennings wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 9:14 am I had noticed that about the route as well as I have always planned to do the ridge direct.
