Scary. I wish Gerry the best and a quick recovery!

And a huge thanks to the SAR folks who took care of him. I'm sure they were quite surprised when they found out they were helping Gerry.

Gerry, I have to say I'm put out about that photo of you in the Herald. 20 years your junior, I have twice as much grey hair.

I would challenge you to a race up Flat Top in a few weeks...but I'd lose.

You got this.

Best wishes on recovery and support to Gerry and Jennifer!
Thanks to SAR for all their efforts.

Bet he wasn't separated from his lunch or his sleeping bag, either. Get better, Gerry!

The man fell twice as far as, waited I-don't-even-know-how-many-times-as-long in I-also-don't-know-how-many-times-colder-temps with down to 0% as much daylight as, and has more than double the life experience that I had when I went through my own too-close-encounter with the inside of a rescue chopper...and still somehow looks and sounds a million times better than I did while still hospitalized. Good sign for things to come, I hope!

Fingers crossed the rest of the road to recovery goes smoothly - he and Jennifer have a lot of keeping us mere mortals in our places ahead of them!

Gerry Roach is my hero. I took the first edition of his 14ers guidebook to college in Maine in the early 1990s to look through when I was missing Colorado. My dad and I did many many 14ers together using Gerry’s book and we still quiz each other with lines from that book: “consider your future…”, the “nifty v-slot” on Longs, among other classics.

And he’s already even updated his LOJ account with last week’s climb.

Get well soon!

I’m fairly certain that his book was on or under my passenger seat at all times for a few years when I was actively working on the list. Thanks for all you have done for this community and for helping me understand the hills a bit better. Get better soon!!! :bicep:

Thanks to the Supreme Being who created the mountains for saving Gerry from the worse fate! Also thanks to the SAR team!

Pray for his speedy recovery so he can stand up on his feet again and go hiking.

As you all know, there are too many mountains that wait to be named. Why don't we start the process of naming that peak after Gerry's name like Roachs Peak in honor of his incomparable accomplishments as a climber and an author? Can we get started tomorrow? We should do the same for his wife Jennifer, John Kirk and his wife, Teresa Gergen, Bill Middlebrook among others.

Please do not derail this important thread with such nonsense. Besides, you have to be dead a while before they name anything after you. Don't rush us.
