Beautiful shots! How far up the trail were these taken? I'm considering taking my daughter up this week, unless it's going to be too long for her to enjoy. Thanks!thebeave7 wrote:Colors were still popping over on the Abyss Lake trail on Saturday (9/23), but were definitely just past peak. A decent number of the trees up high had lost their leaves, but that made for some lovely golden paved trails, lots of good color still around probably for a few more days even.

Re: Fall Colors 2017
The first one was taken maybe 2.5mi in, while the second was closer to 4mi in. We only went a little past the Rosalie/Abyss junction as the aspens kind of thin up higher. Lots of good color around, but definitely on its way out this week, get there soon.Diamond_D_777 wrote: Beautiful shots! How far up the trail were these taken? Re: Fall Colors 2017
Anyone been up around RMNP to see how colors are faring? From looking at some of the webcams it looks like things are getting close to prime, but hard to tell.
Thanks!
Thanks!

First fall season in CO and hoping to take the wife and some friends up to view the colors this Saturday, Sept 30. I know it will probably be busy, but any recommendations from what you all have seen as to where the place to be is? Not afraid to drive a few hours from the Denver metro to get there either. Thanks!

I was at the South Colony Lakes trailhead on Friday. Plenty of color (though not as much as I recall seeing on the road to the Mount Lindsey TH last year). Not much green left in that specific area, at least.hellmanm wrote:Any report/timeline on the sangres?

The Vail area (Booth/Pitkin/Deluge/Gore creek trails) should all be very good this weekend.amorgan wrote:First fall season in CO and hoping to take the wife and some friends up to view the colors this Saturday, Sept 30. Re: Fall Colors 2017
McClure Pass and then over Kebler Pass and into Crested Butte is great if the timing is right, and I think end of September - first few days of October should be pretty much prime time. Haven't been this year, but have been several times, and I think usually about now is pretty good. Is a bit of a drive for one day, but I have done that very drive in one day, not that bad.amorgan wrote:First fall season in CO and hoping to take the wife and some friends up to view the colors this Saturday, Sept 30. How's it looking near the Bells and Snowmass Mtn? I remember those being gorgeous when I hiked in the early fall a couple years ago

Re: Fall Colors 2017
Bear lake area is going fast. Was there Wednesday and a lot of leaves were already gone.
Moraine Park has a healthy amount of green as of midweek. I'd say only 25% turned. Some nice stands on the Cub Lake/Pool loop that should be coming into prime this weekend. The elk are everywhere!
Twin lakes seems to be getting a little bare, but still plenty of color on the way to Indy Pass.
Aspen down lower has a lot of green, but the drive up to the Bells and Castle Creek are stunning. The Bells has quite a few bare stands, but lots of nice color and even some green left too!
I'm headed to Kebler soon so I'll update when I can!
Pics from the phone so don't judge too much
