RIP climber. My GF and I had summited Snowmass yesterday at Noon. My camera shoots 45mp, the original is crystal clear, but I had thought it was odd at the time when I looked on my camera and could see no hikers.

Rest in peace. Thank god for the group that was able to start an expedient recovery with accurate info. My friend was there and had it happen above her and had the litter- carrying helo fly over when she was at the TH.

Thank you Pitkin Co Sheriffs and the incredible people of RMR. May we all be able to draw or reinforce a lesson from this incident.

Somewhat semantics, but it wasn’t Mountain Rescue Aspen on the recovery?

Very sad news. Condolences to the friends and family of the climber.

Very terrible news, my condolences to her family and friends.

Looks like it was a really busy weekend on Capitol. A man had to be airlifted off on Sunday, he was off route and called for help. The Aspen MRA are the best in the game, but they have to be tired after having back to back events like this, it is emotionally and physically draining. Thank you Aspen MRA for all you do, along with all the other search and rescue groups in the state.

I met her the weekend prior on lake como. She was friendly, kind, and seemed like a genuinely good person. This is extremely sad to hear. May she rest in peace.

I did not realize that Kelly McDermott who perished on Capitol in 2021 was never recovered. His body is still 500 feet below the the knife edge? I suppose that is as fine a place as any to rest.

After several MRA rescuers were injured by hiker triggered rockfall from above during an initial recovery mission, in consultation with Kelly's family, the decision was made to postpone recovery indefinitely after not being able to design an alternate recovery plan.

Condolences to the family and friends of the most recent hiker. A reminder that anything can happen out there, and to stay vigilant.

As a female hiker/climber who enjoys solo time, this really hits hard.
Rest in peace, sister. So very heartbreaking.

I saw this news all the way out in Armenia. My prayers go with her family and my thanks to all involved in the recovery. This is a wonderful climbing community and I hope her friends and family can find some goodness from it.
