Looks like Andrew is near the summit of N. Maroon now, and I presume going to start the traverse soon. I would have thought he would do S --> N Maroon to avoid downclimbing the 5.x stuff. Maybe he's going to rappel?

No he’s just going to do the traverse twice. No rap.

UPDATE:

Cathedral, Conundrum, Castle, Thunder Pyramid, Pyramid

Vince left yesterday so first I’ll say thanks for all you did to help Andrew and I! Pack carrying to the 3000’ mark, sharing the 4WDriving, buying awesome food, etc.
- YOU ROCK!

Late afternoon yesterday was the Maroon Bells resupply point. It was a smooth run, I must say- I got up to a campsite at 10’6 pretty quick and set everything up for Andrew’s arrival, and waited, a long time. He got in around 1 am & fell asleep HARD almost immediately after eating everything I forced him to eat - here’s what he had to say:

He gained all his time on the Cathedral to Conundrum traverse which allowed him to get the Pyramid traverse in the light which really saved him, because he struggled getting down Pyramid in the dark, he was so tired. The worst for him was every descent yesterday, ha! and falling in a river.

Weather was great for him, just a little sprinkle. So thankful we have Chris to dance us around the weather, otherwise we would have been soaked in the Sangres which was our original plan.

As for the crew: Laura and Dave come in today & I will meet them at Capitol Creek TH, to meet Andrew at the lake. They are here with me until the 11th! I’m so excited for their help as they are an amazing asset!

Who is they? Maybe I missed it somewhere but I thought Andrew has been solo except for Princeton and La Plata with Andrea.
Andrew has been solo. I’ve only done Culebra Princeton and LaPlata with him so far. Vince was helping carry pack to the 3000’ mark, other than that, he’s solo.

Dropped a candy bar wrapper I suppose. His stringent adherence to LNT is very commendable.

Is he not just gunna go down the couloir?

Easier and safer with longer approach... Sign me up for that! I'll have to listen to the podcast for details. From caltopo the southeast ridge of lightening looks like it could possibly go all the way to the summit in less steep terrain then the standard side, maybe a little less rock fall hazard being on a ridge? Does anyone have photos of this or any one else with experience on the route outside of Andrew? I hope to grab lightening pyramid eventually and can't say I loved the standard approach to thunder and that loose rotten face. That area just feels like a mountain that wants to hurt you. If there is a more stable safe route to thunder and lightening pyramid I'm just so curious as to why it has been done so little longer approach aside. If anyone has any other info I would love to hear about it!
Thanks

We can talk to you about the route- it’s a good one & fun. You can message me, because PSA: Andrew never checks his messages

I just got back from a long hike. I'll update stats for this morning. Not sure I'll get them out tomorrow morning but will do so later in the day.

Andrew, you were an inspiration to me in 2015 and you continue to do that for me. Stay safe and keep kickin' butt!

Just curious - what is the plan for Chicago Basin? Train or Purgatorie?

Here are stats that reflect everything thru Snowmass for the total and by-range section. The daily stats run through 5am this morning (completion of day 5) so, therefore exclude Maroon, Hagerman and Snowmass which will show up in Day 6.
