There's a lot of covered crevasses on the mountain this time of year you can fall into. You need to be hyper aware of skiing. Conditions change week to week, day to day, hour by hour. You don't want to necessarily ski/follow the same tracks from a another skier either; learning to read the mountain will be key. If you've never been on the mountain before, let alone glaciated terrain, you'd really be rolling the dice going alone. A ranger I talked to last year said there was too many people skiing the mountain that had no business skiing it. A lot of inexperienced people simply getting by with pure luck. DC would be a crappy ski too, in my opinion. It's S facing, the Cleaver is likely to be icy, dry, or sun cupped, and has more crevasse risk than other aspects. Ingram direct starts opening quick this time of year as well. Almost no one skis it, better off with Emmons.
