I will be hiking/camping in the San Juans this year for the first time and I'm wondering if there are any rivers or large creeks similar in size to the Platte River that a person can hike/camp/fish along that are on public property. Thanks, J. Hart

wow, thanks so much! i'll write them all down! of the ones mentioned, which one do you all think will be best for early june camping/hiking/fishing?
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon.

There are lots of good options. In the South San Juans, there is the Piedra or Conejos. On the nothereast side the upper Rio Grande near Creede is excellent. Within the Weminuche, the Los Pinos and Vallecito are small to medium sized trout streams.
