Summer Hiking Partners

Post by colingoodman »

Hello everyone!

I am looking for others willing to meet up this summer on any 14ers I have left. Most of mine are in the San Juans, and it would be particularly great to find one or more people to do the Chicago Basin peaks with. My todo list also includes the Crestones, Snowmass, Antero, the Lake City peaks, and others.

I am normally based in Denver but will be living in the Salida area for the next couple of months.

I’m comfortable with exposed scrambling up to low 5th and I sport climb. I’d especially love to link up with other rock climbers and/or people close to my age, but any good company is welcome.

Sup bro,

Looking to do all flatirons night ascend scramble the 10th Jun or 9th August. I think I already have your number if your interested. The dates are the full moons, want to do August more because the 3rd will be open then and will allow me to do all them in a day. Also looking to do Capital or Crestone in July. Gives more time for snow to melt. I have a pretty weird schedule but have a lot of flexibility. Regardless, taking some PTO on and around August to do some night ascends of some of these if weather permits. I also prefer night ascends as I am on nights, but more than willing to do days, I just hate the sun, so hopefully on an overclouded day without rain would be nice. Or super early start.

Hey! Would you be interested in doing Snowmass next week? Thinking of doing the S Ridge route taking and West slope down. S Ridge looks pretty sweet.

Hey man,

Also looking to do the Crestones this summer. Maybe July-August timeframe. I typically hike Friday-Sunday since I have those days off. I was hoping to do the traverse between the two peaks, not sure if you're up for something that spicy. Let me know if you have any interest!

Looking a cool friend to hike with jul 17 thru 26.
Candidate should be able to put up with me coming from 600 ' elevation and weigh less than 150 pounds.

Got a few peaks on the list, but open to suggestions.
Im 44. Prefer someone younger.
Lets check some stuff off!

Howdy! Just copying this post from another thread looking for partners.

The remaining "hard" peaks that I have are The Crestones, both Bells, and Snowmass. I have parking permits for the Bells area on Labor Day weekend and could share some of this entry window with others. I also have to do Lindsey, and I've signed the waiver to climb this year at some point.

I'm pretty comfortable on class 3/4 so anything in the remaining peaks I'm ready for. I would not opt to do the Bells traverse when the time comes, but would consider the Crestones traverse if I had someone who is familiar with the way. (Did the El D/Wilson traverse last season without issue) I'd honestly rather go up the Needle first to familiarize myself with the correct gully. Snowmass I'm still not sure what approach to take, but am open to either the standard or alternate route.

I'm getting married in late July, so there will be a window where I will be out for a different kind of adventure. I should be available mid-August to whenever the season ends.

Not sure if I'll finish this season but it would be great to get the hard ones closed out so my soon-to-be wife and I have a comfortable class 2 to finish on.

Let me know if anyone else has similar goals!

I also need the Needle, Snowmass, Pyramid, the Bells, the Wilsons, and Chicago Basin. I did grab three Sunday reservations, two in August and one in September for the Bells and Pyramid in case someone wanted to tag along. I'll probably shoot for Blanca/Ellingwood this weekend
