Upper camp spot is great.
I had 2 high camp spots when I did this last summer via Stormy Gulch - one of the better Wemi approaches I have done. My first spot was pretty shitty and even higher than the spot you circled. I set up camp quickly as a storm was about to let loose on me. I moved camp the next day to the high spot you circled, and it was awesome and near healthy water sources with numerous options to pitch your tent on the many flat grassy ledges. I have a picture of my camp spot on my LoJ TR.
I agree with Suprabenito, I am also not a fan of the Leviathan approach. I had not planned on doing all the summits on my trip using just the Stormy Gulch approach, but in the end I was glad I did.

I can vouch for this too. I have not climbed the “standard” route on Guardian/Silex but Otina’s (bergsteigen) route had minimal bulls**t and some fun optional scrambling. Plus you get to admire The Guardian’s North face. There is pleasant camping at the bottom of the route as well, right after fording the Vallecito. I saw many deer there. Found a knife, too.supranihilest wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 7:58 pm Following the route Otina lays out in her trip report for Guardian and Silex was also quite nice.
