South colony lakes road conditions

Post by Ecocrazy »

Anyone been up there this year? Or know if they grade it every year when it opens?

I did it in my Crosstrek in 22, but reports from late last summer say it's gotten really bad. One report from this year just says summer conditions.

Sounds like it's still in rough shape. Found the quote below from 6/15 on alltrails, along with another from the same day saying they turned their stock subaru around 1 mile past the lower TH.

> The most adventurous part of the hike is the drive up the service road, it's intense and gotten worse. I did the same drive, same time of year, in 2024 and the road was in much better shape. My Subaru Outback Wilderness did fine but I felt for the car the entire time, would not go up that road again, wear and tear on the vehicle not worth it, I will definitely park at 2WD next time
