Granite peak 2025

Post by DaveP1961 »

Looking at a possible climb of Granite Peak (MT) next August. Via the "easier" Southwest ramp. Three days.

Anyone else on this site thinking about this? My wife won't let me do it alone.

If you are comfortable with snow climbing, I would recommend you do it when there is still snow. We did it over two days in early July and it worked out perfect. Here is my strava data from day two. It is a fun mountain.

I am looking at this for next August. I have a committed partner and we will see how schedules line up, but I'm happy to let you know what dates we land on and see if it works for you to join us! We will be doing this over more like a week. I tried the three-day plan this August and did not make the summit. See this discussion thread for some analysis of why, and what I want to do differently next August! https://www.14ers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=63882

I am looking for a partner/group to climb Granite in the summer of 2025. I have climbed Gannett, Rainer and the Grand.

Anyone still interested in forming/joining a team for Granite Peak this year? I am looking at heading up there within the timeframe of August 13-20 and have one interested partner so far. Planning on the SW Ramp route.

I have a project break the last week of September, but conditions can be good or bad by then.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

I think we're going to make a run at Granite 4th of July. Not sure of our plan yet, but likely 2 days.
