Curious as to why these more technical peaks are not climbed more often although showing up in guidwd expeditions by a few operators.
According the the Himalayan Database, the number of summits is very low and I imagine the answer is related to altitude— people preferring Everest over Nuptse, Lhotse over Pumori, and Ama Dablam over Cholatse.
Anyone climbed Cholatse, Pumori, or Nuptse?

Re: Anyone climbed Cholatse, Pumori, or Nuptse?
i know an expedition operator who does cholatse, seems like a nice climb. pumori involves a bit more rope fixing, nuptse is a very technical and dangerous mountain needing as much time as everest.
lack of 8000m is the obvious answer to why they are not climbed so much

Pumori is a popular peak and has seen hundreds of ascents.
Nupste is very technical, is overshadowed by Everest and Lhotse, and isn't considered a separate 7000 meter peak so it makes sense that it isn't that popular. It's still beautiful though.
Cholatse is pretty difficult, more so than nearby Ama Dablam which gets much more attention.

I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.
