Nothing overly productive to add here, but I want to second Justin’s endorsement of the HMG Southwest. I love the simplicity and durability of it. That said, my base weight is low and I’ve never carried more than a few days of food.

Don't know about that pack, but it looks similar to the Zpacks Arc Haul. I have the earlier version of that which I got around 2013. The pack has held up well over many trips certainly totaling over 2000 miles. The cost ($400) is similar to what you're looking at, and you can get a range of belt sizes and torso lengths. Also, the Zpacks is ~10oz lighter than HMG. The carbon frame is remarkable. You do have to order belt pouches separately, which increases the cost a bit if you want those (way worth it, IMO). Has worked great for me. YMMV!
