Mountain Rescue Aspen has been alerted to the camping gear of a possible missing Climber(s) . This camping gear was tucked behind a log and was found in the area of the maroon peak climbers turnoff. It reportedly had a note stating. "Will be back, God willing, 7/18 summiting Maroon and back. If this is your gear, you know who this gear may belong to or have seem or heard anything that may be relevant to this area or person please contact the Pitkin County Sheriff's office 970-920-5300
We are investigating the gear and will post any available public information we can
UPDATE: Some lessons to be learned. Subject Climber is safe and Out of the field !
Subject left a note regarding their trip plan and then deviated from plan. Leave a trip plan, stick to the plan.

That’s great news! This is also why I love my InReach. Want to switch up your plans? No problem. Just notify your emergency contact person. I guess this doesn’t really apply to this situation but still useful as it’s not often we leave our camping gear and leave written notes of our plans.
