My wife and I were some of the few people on the mountain this morning, and there was a search and rescue helicopter circling the general area for about an hour while we summited. Definitely looking for someone or something close to Holy Cross. We checked the Eagle Co Sheriff’s website, but couldn’t find anything.
Does anyone have any info on what it might have been?

There's a possibility it could also have been a training mission. I was by South Arapaho last week and saw a helicopter hovering near the peak and assumed it was a rescue or recovery when it was just a training mission (I reached out to RMR).

So the side of the helicopter said search and rescue? Or how did you identify it as such?petkovip33 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 4:22 pm My wife and I were some of the few people on the mountain this morning, and there was a search and rescue helicopter circling the general area for about an hour while we summited. I was camped at lake Constantine on 10/9. Around midnight search and rescue came by woke us up looking for a hiker that has gotten off the notch mountain trail. Looking for mike
Assume the helicopter was part of that

It was bright orange, but what really gave it away was “fight for life” on the side of it.nsaladin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:50 amSo the side of the helicopter said search and rescue? Thanks for the info. Sure hope they found him.

Ahh yeah that’s “Flight for Life” and they are not search and rescue. However, a member of the local search and rescue may have been on board and flight for life assists search and rescue. Their main role is transporting patients. I was curious if Eagle or a surrounding county acquired their own heli for their county search and rescue team, which would have been a shock.petkovip33 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 5:29 amIt was bright orange, but what really gave it away was “fight for life” on the side of it.nsaladin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:50 amSo the side of the helicopter said search and rescue? Usually happens with a donation, or other weird circumstance like having a national park.

Thanks for the info and clarification. Hadn’t seen those articles yet.
Hopefully the person lost/injured wasn’t picky about the heli trying to help.
