!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT UPDATE:

we just pulled out our Culebra docs as last minute people always do last minute things, and we double checked we had them AND the correct date, well what do you know, we did not have the correct date! We realized we don’t start until SUNDAY THE 27TH********

This is actually great because we have been incredibly stressed running around all day trying to get things situated packed and last minute planning. So we will head out tomorrow! And start Sunday the 27th!

Thanks for the support, again and again!

Weather sucks, we just don’t have flexibility with Culebra - for all who think we are crazy starting in bad weather …

I admire you, appreciate your comments about the current desecration of wild places by thoughtless people, think your plan regarding the closed Decalibron is wise and worthy, and will root for you every step.

What?! Delayed a day?! What will I do tomorrow?! My schedule is cleared. My phone is charged! My popcorn popped. I’m ready for this!

Seriously Andrew, more than good luck to you! Stay healthy. And Vince, David, Laura, Brenda, Kyle and Andrea, my best and thanks to you. We all know this does not happen without you. Take care of this guy and yourselves!

Well, i was hoping i would be telling you guys about the this amazing route i have planned in the San Juan’s. Its something we call the Weminuche Wipeout. Climb all the centennials and 14ers in the weminuche wilderness in one big push, including Rio Grande Pyramid. It’s called a wipeout because either you wipe out all those peaks, or the peaks wipe you out.

But the truth is, I’m afraid of that route. It’s so tough, with some of the hardest, most remote peaks that are on the list. Even if i can’t finish this attempt this year, that route in itself would make this a worthwhile journey!

However, the weather forecast has me scared. And I’m not going to complain about rain! We need it! However i made decision to take my beautiful, elegant plan and chop it all up. We are going to spend the first few days chasing easier peaks while the heaviest rains are around. Once things improve we will head back down to the San Juan’s for the wipeout and the rest of the San Juan’s.

I think it's an excellent idea Andrew. In 2017, the rain got me scared too - the total precip forecasted for the day in Silverton- 1/2" - 1" didn't even make sense! I had to bring camping gear to do Rio Grande from 30 Mile just in case I got skunked out on that huge approach. I had to do Vermillion just to wait out my multi-day pack into the Wem. And even then, I had to skip peaks and come back to them, hoping that something like Wham Ridge wasn't sopping wet! You're smart for not underestimating the Cents!

I look forward to your linkup of the southern Cents! I still haven't done Gash Ridge!

Yeah Justin i imagine having to plan for 60 days you had to deal with just about everything!

Well i won’t be doing gash ridge this time…it didn’t really make sense because of California Peak. Instead the best i can figure is basically to drop down all the way down after lyndsay and huerfano then ascend California, then take the ridge to ellingwood, Blanca and little bear. Or vice versa.
