Missouri C Couloir Conditions?

Post by syzygy01 »

Hey,

I was hoping to climb C Couloir this Saturday. However, the forecast from last night, tonight, and tomorrow night does not have the lows reaching freezing at 12,000 feet. So I was wondering if anyone knew just how much snow is still in the North face couloirs on Missouri, and if it is enough to slide. Also, I wanted people's opinions as to if they think it will freeze above 12,000 feet. Any other info. is also appreciated.

JP,

The coverage on Missouri's North Face should be excellent right now. As for the freeze, that area received a good one a few nights ago, and the low on Monarch Pass was in the mid to high 30's last night and it was a mostly clear night. The forecast for tonight and Friday night call for lows of just above freezing at 13,500' ish. Given it actually gets that low the next two nights, I would personally be alright with hitting a north facing line early Saturday morning. Just my two cents, others may have a different opinion.
