Bell Cord

Post by joe4186 »

Anyone been up in the Crater/Maroon Lake area lately? I am looking for some beta on N. and S. Maroon, specifically the Bell Cord. If anyone can give me some info, that would be sweet.

Also, how much snow has the Aspen area been getting on this latest system? Still looking for updated Maroon Lake Rd. conditions

Thanks in advance

Joe

Maroon Lake Road is closed to vehicle traffic until Memorial Day every year, so you will have to add that distance on to your total round-trip time. You can still ski, hike, snowshoe, etc. up the road but can't drive it. I haven't been up there lately so I can give you information on the conditions, but there are others on 14ers.com who should be able to...

The Elks have been getting new snow out of every recent storm cycle that has come through (my house looks at Mount Sopris and it has had fresh snow quite a few times over the past couple weeks). The first round a couple weeks ago brought 18" to the top of Aspen Mountain...

Hope that answers a couple of your questions,

I've done the Cord in early June twice (summited once) and the conditions were quite good. Missed out on the first time because a partner got altitude sickness.
