Those who have read Colorado 14er Disasters know that Mark Scott Nash made the mistake of heading up towards Gilpin Peak instead of Sneffels early on in his climbing career.

However - I don't think this site and the plethora of route description information (aka the internet) was around when he made that mistake. So we can cut him some slack.

There was (is) a plethora of route information regarding climbing routes on Sneffels before the internet existed.

How dare I misspell Sneffels. Thank you so very much for correcting me!

I've only climbed Sneffels once, by the SW ridge, approaching from Blue Lakes. It was 2010 or 2011. I made a mistake on the way down and found myself negotiating a class 4 chute - much harder going down than up. I had walked east a good deal before dropping, so not sure where I got in that mix up, but felt confident that I was not in over my head. Anyhow, my point is that I take all these ventures in a spirit of exploration, and the main principle is simply to try and not venture into stuff where, if the way ahead proves too difficult, the way back is still feasible.
I have phenomenal route-finding abilities. Specifically, I have an uncanny knack for selecting the path of most resistance.
