Show us your 'shrooms!

Post by Jim Davies »

The recent rainy weather has been great for mushrooms. Got any good pictures?

Here are a few from yesterday, found around Hankins Pass and Lake Park in the Lost Creek Wilderness.

There were some pretty funky ones on the way to and around the campsites at Capitol Lake. One looked like a gaping mouth. I didn't take any photos, though.

Some more from yesterday.

The classic grocery-store shape.

Some of these brown ones were huge, roughly volleyball size.

I took this pic one morning last year on my way through the woods to do some climbing. I was in the hills along the river in the La Crosse WI area.

I know its not from this year or from CO but I thought it was to cool not to share.

Take care all.

Amanita muscaria aka fly agaric. Allegedly the Vikings used to eat them to get themselves into the right mood before raping and pillaging. If that's what you have in mind, go ahead. But the effects are very unpredictable. Pretty but dangerous. DO NOT EAT!!
