New Years Eve Citadel Death

Post by HikerBox »

Really tragic death last week: https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/c ... al-divide/

Sounds like they must have gotten off route somehow since the partner needed to be flown off.

I guess I can say something now that his names been released. I knew Shafiq, he was a nice guy who enjoyed showing others mountaineering. He died doing what he loved.

Very sad news, the news story stated they had all the correct equipment. Trotter sorry to hear you lost a friend.

I've hiked with Shafiq a few times, he was a good dude and a competent mountaineer.

My best wishes go out to the woman that watched it happen and had to be rescued from that ledge. That's a hard position for anyone to be in and I hope she'll come through ok and keep climbing.

To family and friends of the fallen climber, I'm sorry for your loss.
