I hadn't heard of him, but it sounds like he climbed a lot of bold stuff. Aid soloed a 5.9 A4, then rapped off the end of his rope. Was he tired? Rushed? Distracted? We'll never know. Sometimes it's the smallest things that get you.

To be clear about the livestream:

Balin was not the one streaming. Someone in the Valley with a telephoto lens was doing a multi-day livestream of the wall and it's climbers. There was no affiliation between Balin and the streamer.

It's not clear (to me, at least) if he either knew he was being streamed or if the streamer knew it was Balin. Based on what I can tell, neither of those were true. He was just... someone up there doing something cool.
