It may be that a stronger guiding culture needs to be cultivated on LB as these mountains get ever more popular, as is more common on Capitol, the Bells, Longs.

I've spoken to a couple of guide services regarding the Blanca Group. For whatever reason, they are not able to get permits to guide in this area. At least not yet.

One of the times I was up there I ran into a military group from the Special Forces that used the area to do their mountaineering training and had fixed ropes on Little Bear and other peaks around the area including Ellingwood. Who knows who else has installed ropes there but I know that's one group who has.

I can't find any reference of guiding being offered for LB currently, but I feel there used to be. But bandit guiding happens there -- who do you think keeps replacing the rope in the Hourglass?

When I was climbing N. Maroon, there was a man with a guide (I believe from Aspen Adventures) who was taking him on the traverse.
I asked him if his company guided Little Bear. He said they did not, but he indicated that there are professional guides who are willing to do that "freelance".
