I've only done one 13er that required scrambling, but Hagues Peak is a pretty interesting scramble. It also has some awesome views and is a county highpoint. I think the ridge proper would be low 5th.

Downside to Hagues is the long approach and the scrambling is only for the last 500' or so.

This is still one of my favorites.

Some that come to mind (not in any order):
Elk Tooth - Ogalalla
Pigeon
Coffee Pot/Tea Kettle
Huron - North Apostle (hitting 13,472 and 13,517)
"Huerfano" - 13,555
Wheeler - North Star
Little Pawnee - Pawnee (12er)

13,631 - Pyramid wasn't a favorite, but it was memorable. Edit: Lightning and Thunder were really good though.

A serious let-down was Siberia Peak. It looked so good, but we were quite disappointed.

I forgot to list the Sawtooth Range/Big Agnes. Definately some of the best scrambling in Colorado and the rock is wonderfully solid.

This is a very helpful thread, as I was struggling to come up with good Cent/bi-Cent scrambles that are not in SJs. This should give me at least a few ideas.

Re. Hagerman - is that SW ridge reasonably solid (as far as the Elks go)? Some of us were planning on Hagerman for the Fall gathering - what would be the *suggested* route advice for Hagerman from those who've done it? Or is it better done with snow?

10- thunder pyramid to pyramid traverse
Lordhelmet, the ridge is sort of cool looking, but just how loose is it? From certain angles it appears to be super nasty.
Scott - Its more fun than loose, but it is loose. The climb up to Pyramid is the highlight. Typical Elk Range care needs to be taken to get across safely. Its a classic for sure.

^^ A pure delight -- I'll third that one.

A few others I hadn't seen mentioned:
Milwaukee-->Pico Asilado
"Mas Alto traverse" (13062-->13060-->13028)
Triple Crown (McHenrys-->Chiefs Head-->Alice)
Apache-->Navajo
Williams Mountains traverse (five 13ers!)
Mount Daly (east face) + traverse to Capitol

I've heard good things about the traverse from 13580 to 13541 at the head of Willow Creek in the Sangres, but I haven't tried it yet.

Aside from a grungy start to the ridge, I found it to be quite solid for an Elk. Highly recommended. If you have the time, I think it would be fun to descend as well and avoid Hagerman's miserably loose south face.

Thank you!

What are the thoughts on traverse to Snowmass Peak (bi-Cent) and descending the East ridge route? Roach describes it as "more difficult route", although still at Class 3, and from description it appears to be more loose than SW ridge.

Of the few 13ers I've experienced, I enjoyed:

Pacific East Ridge
Pettingell East Ridge.

Haven't been there myself. I was tempted to head to Snowmass Pk (unranked, btw, not a bi-cent), but we were short on time.
