I skied this last year and Buckskin was a nice day out. How was the snowpack up there? We are looking at skiing democrat's south face if the conditions permit. Thanks for the recent pics.

Democrat south face

Snow coverage is great up there right now. I did not dig any pits on south facing aspects. The road into Kite Lake road had been melted and re frozen on multiple occasions recently. I think the line has seen some warm temps and sun over the last couple weeks to help set it up. I would dig some pits and read the ave forecast before commiting to that line, especially with the new snow that fell last night. South face of Democrat is definitely steeper (more ave prone) than the northeast face of Buckskin. When I rode the south face of Democrat it was full on spring in May. It just got skied though, reference the new 14ers.com TR by KansasBoarder and maybe PM one of those guys. Have fun!
