 Grays on Columbus Day
UW_m77 (Scott) and I needed a day out of our respective offices on Monday. The plan was to hit up Kelso ridge, but we ended up doing a quick snow climb instead. I figured I would put up some pics in case anyone was heading up there in the near future. By the way, the road up to the TH is easily passable in just about anything you have in your garage....no more rut.

This is the first time I've ever seen this lot empty like this....

Peaks are filing in nicely. We ascended the unnamed couloir to the right of lost rat.

Winter pics look best in black and white

Making our way to the base of lost rat and our couloir.

Fighting the winds to get where we wanted to be....again, black and white is the way to go

One of my favorite pics...veering off the standard route afforded us some different views

Trudging up the couloir. We topped out right on the standard route.

We didn't end up summiting, but neither of us cared. We've both been up there before. We were just happy to get out for the day and get some sun and snow. If you're thinking about heading up this way soon, bring gaitors and be prepared for some snowy trails and the usual winter wind.
