This was to be the third day of our four day "Fourteener's in September" journey. Two down, two more to go.
On Friday, September 11, shame on us for forgetting our American flag for photo ops on top, we arrive at the Radio Towers on the Princeton Trail road and park here. The road up wasn't bad unless you happen to meet someone coming the other way. We met climbers along the way who had driven farther up the road and at least one couple who had parked at the start of the Mt. Princeton Road. Compared to the hike up Yale the day before we had plenty of company on Princeton.
There are 6 of us today, Stu (NY), Greg (KS), Tim (AR), John (KS), Evan (TX) and myself (TX). We headed up the road around 7:45 AM and summitted around 11:15 AM. Not our favorite hike as the trail was very rocky for much of the way. That said, there is no such thing as a bad hike on a Fourteener! The weather was the best so far, warm temperatures and sunshine the entire way.
By 4:00 PM we were back at the Radio Towers and drove back to the Leadville Hostel to fuel up and rest up for Saturday's attempt on Shavano/Tabuguche.
