I‘m not sure if the decision was more due to a sense of adventure or indignation of the price of the train. $79 plus $10 for the pack plus parking fees. Either way we ended up taking a fantastic trip. I certainly recommend it as a great alternative to the train.
Bridge 3 is still out and not likely to get fixed. The water levels were very high on our trip, but we found a way to avoid the whole 3rd bridge problem anyway.
The trip ended up being 42.5 miles with about 10,800 vertical feet.
I have read trip reports since 2005 on this site and this is the biggest effort I have seen in Colorado. I am blown away by your commitment, perserverance, and the time you did this in. If there was an award on 14ers for trip report of the year, I‘d nominate you!!!!!!!! Unreal
captured perfectly by an excellent trip report. I like the combination of story, video, and photos. Great to see the Columbines in bloom. I haven‘t seen any up north but I‘m excited to see them soon. Always love taking photos of the flowers. Thanks for the read!
I am thinking of doing a similiar trip in august, most likely solo unless I can find some hard man-woman to join me. Nice work and sweet photos! :D
