continuation from part 1

We bypassed K2 on the north side, and could finally relax with an easy hike down.

Once back at camp it was time for a nice hot meal, and of course some more wine! We had a wonderful afternoon of relaxing and enjoying the views (especially of the route we had just climbed). We strolled over to the lake again, and watched the marmots, and some goats doing their own mountain climbing high on the ridge across the lake. We also hiked around the "tree-covered knoll" to check out campsites there, and decided we liked the spot we had selected.

After another great sleep, we had quite a surprise in the morning"fresh snow all over the top of Capitol. We were very happy with our luck in timing (we didn't think our route would be much fun with fresh snow on it).

We were very reluctant to leave this beautiful area, and took our time packing up and taking lots of pictures. Note our tent among the trees and boulders on the left.

We finally had to go and set out back down the trail. We took our time once again, enjoying the views and finally encountering those cows (and a very friendly chipmunk too)!

Heh...we climbed it last fall also - we were packing out the day you were packing in apparently. We camped in the bushes right behind your tent, and I sat on that same ”dinner” rock both nights! Beautiful place for sure.
