Y Couloir Pikes Peak, and a lost snowboard

Been wanting to do Pikes for a bit. Got to the highway around 0730 and then went to Manitou Springs for some coffee, the highway didn't open until 0900. Made it about to marker 13 where they closed up the road due to winds and I started hiking. I caught a ride from some nice workers there and headed to the Peak. I got some extra snacks, refilled water at Pikes then went to the couloir. I dropped in pretty early and snowboarded to the bottom, while taking some breaks along the way. At bottomless pit trail, I tossed on my boots and my crampons and went to work. I started climbing back up and took a break.

That's when I was sipping some water and my board detached from my safety and flew down the mountain. I could see it barely, but had to make a choice if I wanted to basically risk sliding down the mountain self arresting to go get it. It wasn't worth the time and effort, and possible injury, so I decided to push on. More on this late.

Snow going back up the mountain was really nice. No slush or anything, but I did notice significant more sinking around 1 when the sun was full blast on me. Had to switch to my glasses and snow goggles at one point. Outside of that, I really had to work for it by digging my foot and crampons in the snow. It was real slow work. I summited at around 3 after numerous breaks.

I had a backcountry track, but accidentally deleted it before this post. I will try to contact support tomorrow to upload it, but upon further inspection, I had made a wide circle getting back to the top going clockwise. I will try to share it if I can get it back.

Snow, and wind conditions fine, I brought extra layers due to wind chill expected to go in and out of negatives, but ended up stripping going up.

As for the snowboard and boots, I did see it, and plan on making a trip through Bar camp and through bottomless pit to retrieve it some time soon. Its a 2024 Super DOA with green Van lace boots if someone goes and retrieves it before me, I would be very grateful. It would still require a little hike up some snow. Getting down was easy, got a ride with some out of state folk and they dropped me by my car. I stopped by the toll to let them know what happened about my board and if they receive reports of a missing board and boots, its probably mine and I will return for it some time soon.

I wish I was better at posting, and I'm sorry for the poor pictures. Next time, I think I am going to bring my gopro and film. Might try soon if conditions are ok and I get my board back.
