 Sherman Scramble

First trip report!

We started at about 8:30 from the four mile trailhead. We were able to park right on the start of the hike and were one of the only people there. The weather was cloudy and very windy for the first little while. We found ourselves stuck in snow at times and rather unprepared for the snow ahead.

After reaching the main gully, we found a shortcut that could cut around the saddle through the snow. We slowly climbed up it, very steep and would avoid it for the future! After reaching the saddle, the wind really picked up. The snow made the path quite narrow on the ridge and we hurried to summit. We summited at about 10:20, with a great view of Leadville and Fairplay on either side.

On the way down, we made good use of the snow available, sliding down the same way we had shortcut the saddle. We got down right as the weather got extremely sunny, at roughly 12:10. Fun day!
