 Trip Report 8/14/05
I drove 1600 miles (roundtrip) with my 7-year-old son to bag this 14er....only to find that the rain had created such a mess of the flat road just beyond the ranch gate that we had to go home empty-handed and heart broken. Even in 4L, my tires were spinning, my Pathfinder was fishtailing and sinking, and my nerves were getting rocked. I figured if I couldnt make it on the <1% grade, there was little chance I was going to make it to Fourway. Oh well, another mountain for another year. As a concession prize, we "bagged" (this is a stretch, I know) the Dunes and Capulan volcano in NM. Hey, it was good enough for my 7-year-old, which made it more than good enough for me.
