 The La Plata Redemption

Some days, you have it....some days you don't.
Last month, I didn't have it and La Plata chewed me up and spit me out.
It had nothing to do with weather or any other outside factors... I simply got gassed.

Four weeks of training made all the difference. It didn't hurt that there's been a pretty big snow melt in the mountains since mid-February.

This was a solo winter ascent in very non-winter like conditions.
There's little I can add to the video below.

It was nice to meet so many people along the climb! A great way to spend St. Patty's Day!

I was on my way down and met you around 12,500. I found some Yak Trax and left them on a stick near the trench just before entering the trees. Hopefully whoever lost them was able to get them on the way out. Bernie

This is a great way to show conditions on the entire route.

The group of 4 you ran into on the summit was Kevin Baker, USAKeller, bergsteigen, and I.

Right on, Kansas. We met last fall at the gathering. Sorry I didn't recognize you, bro. Thanks for snapping a few photos. Hope you enjoyed my huffing and puffing on the video. Next time, I'll bring the Chub!

Nice vid, Mr. Helmet Cam! I must admit USA Keller and I were wondering who you were talking to on that last push to the summit, but we figured out you had a helmet cam. Congrats on 14er #34!
