Mounts: Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln and BrossBack tracking a week, I wanted to post up the 4 bag'r as it was an amazing day of trekking across 4 peaks. Arriving at the trail head the night before, we attempted to take our jeeps across the snow pack near the lake. So in good fun I decided to give it a try knowing we had winches to pull me back if I could not make it. I'm sorry to report the ice was no match for the jeep. We winched back out and set up camp there. Hopefully it is melted now! So 6:30ish am start, and off we go.... Democrat your going down!      We decided to go up the gut on the first section, right after the water crossing at the lake stay right if you want to keep out of the snow drifts on the main route. It's a pretty gentle slope that ties back in to the main route right before the snow field in the next picture.            Reaching the first saddle you have a choice to conquer Democrat to your left or continue on to Cameron to your right. Being that I had the urge to do all 4 I backtracked to Democrat first. There were several lines to take. Most people I saw went far left and up the snowfields. I went straight up the rocks to the peak. WAY faster and if you are careful there is a path to follow. I didn't bring gaitors or poles and post hole'n didn't sound very fun!      Reaching the 1st peak of Democrat looking back across at Cameron and settling in on some awesome 360 degree views!!     You mean we gotta go all the way back over there to Cameron? Yes Charlie Yes.. Only the beginning...   Making it to the top of Cameron, its flat odd but has some cool pools on the top that Charles decides will make a great Sno-Cone out of..    Mt. Lincoln is in clear view.. Lets rock...     Mt. Lincoln's Peak. 3 down..  Some one say dinner time?? Dude give me some of that cliff bar. He was all about it!! Ok Ok just a bite..     Now the long saddle to "Bross." Following the trail closures of course.. Lots of Pretty Pictures along the way. The wildflowers are to die for and smell amazing!!!!     Celebratory cold beverage and the decline off Bross.     All in All a fantastic 4bag'r of some very fine views of this amazing backcountry of Colorado. Highly recommended! Charles definitely needed boots coming down the back of Bross. Those rocks are loose and sharp.. He was very happy to get back! |
