9/9/2023 Route: Lost Man TH Posted On: 9/10/2023, By: mtngoatwithstyle Info: Great day out there. Dry all the way to the summit. Such fun mountain to hike/climb. On the way back, LOTS of wildlife to see compared to the morning. I saw someone come down with an orange helmet but never saw him on the saddle and wondered if he was doing the "slam".Views are gorgeous from ridge and summit. |

7/1/2023 Route: 13500, Twining, 13545, 13001, Geissler East & West Posted On: 7/1/2023, By: cloudkicker Info: Linked up 6 ranked peaks today. UN13,500, Twining, UN13,545 (now 13,556), UN13,001, Geissler Mtn East & Geissler Mtn West. Started at Independence Pass, ended at Upper Lost Man TH (car shuttle). I packed my mountaineering boots, crampons, ice axe, and microspikes. I didnt use any of them. Just trail runners and a pole. The route is mostly in summer conditions. With caveat. Snow still exists nearby Lost Man Lake which made the route to the base of 13,001 and back more tedious. And two small snowfields exist on the Geisslers but they are fairly low angle and low consequence. The actual class 3-4 on all the peaks was dry and awesome. Note that when you add 13,001 it adds a lot of extra spice and also extra effort which makes this link up more difficult. Totally worth it, such an odd peak with huge slabs and fun problems which felt like it belonged in Chicago Basin. Also, the creek crossing on the Lost Man trail (just above Linkin Lake turnoff) is raging right now so prepare to get your feet wet. Also!! We ran into Daway on 13,500 and joined forces with him through the day. I expect he will post his own CR soon with additional insight. Great hiking with you dude! |

10/6/2022 Route: Upper Lost Man Posted On: 10/6/2022, By: Hobbes301 Info: There was ankle/shin-deep snow from Lost Man Pass to the lake. Dusting of snow in areas on the ridge. I never used microspikes but they'd definitely offer some security in spots scrambling the early morning verglas on the ridge. Conditions for the Geisslers look comparable. |

8/7/2022 Route: Indy Pass Posted On: 8/8/2022, By: kwhit24 Info: I got to Indy Pass at 5:15am and waited a little bit until it got a little lighter. There were only about 5 cars there at the time. The route up Pt 13,500 has a good trail most of the way and over to Twining wasn't any more difficult than class 2. It was still class 2 coming off Twining Pk to the saddle aside from one class 3 move towards the bottom. The route up Pt 13,545 had a little maneuvering and Class 2+ stuff with a little exposure in spots. Coming off Pt 13,545 had a few Class 3 area but I mostly tried staying close to the ridge. That was the most difficult part of the hike but Mav handled it with no help needed. Once at the saddle you can see the trail down to Lost Man Lake which you follow for like 3/4 of a mile. Saw 7 mountain goats past the lake. Picked my way up to Pt 13,001 (Now 13,006 and no longer the lowest ranked 13er) with no issues then back to the saddle. The route up East and West Geissler Mtns were pretty straight and lead to some great views of the surrounding areas. To get back to the car I just contoured between 12,400 and 12,500 to avoid too much extra up and down on the rolling slopes. (11.94 mi; 4,790' gain; 7:34:45 total time) Start at TH 5:45am; PT 13,500 6:40am; Twining Peak 7:15am; PT 13,545 8:00am; PT 13,001 9:25am; East Geissler Mtn 10:45am; West Geissler Mtn 11:35am; Back to TH 1:20pm |

6/12/2022 Route: Twining to West Giessler traverse Posted On: 6/12/2022, By: Geckser Info: Did a big thirteener loop in the Indy pass region. We went from 13,500 to Twining to 13,545 to 13,001, to East Geissler ending in West Geissler. Followed Suprahnihelist's tracks and had a pretty good time of it. Snow was generally avoidable except on the descent from Geisler Pass and the trip from 13,545 to 13,001. We were lucky to have hit the snow early on the latter as it made for very easy travel. Great views, nice day, no complaints. The ridge was quite fun with nothing over 3rd class unless you searched it out. Surprisingly Pt. 13,001 was a blast and one of my favorite 13ers I have done. It was secluded and has some really fun scrambling, highly recommended. Big ups to the guy who let us hitchhike back up to Indeoence pass. I hope the wedding goes great. |

7/20/2021 Route: from Lost Man lake Posted On: 7/21/2021, By: SnowAlien Info: A lot of fun scrambling if you stick to the ridge proper. Rock is high quality granite. The tall pinnacle in the middle only went at C4. Sadly, no register. |

9/13/2020 Route: South Ridge Posted On: 9/13/2020, By: Flyingfish Info: Used micro spikes the whole way from Lost Man pass and back. The scramble sections are dry. Snow is pretty supportive in the shade |

9/25/2019 Route: Southeast Ridge Posted On: 9/26/2019, By: supranihilest Info: Super fun peak that's far easier than it looks. There's a number of slabs and big granite blocks on the ridge that block easy access, but once you've gained the ridge via a saddle above Lost Man Lake just stick to the south side of the ridge along grassy ledges and dirt slopes. At times the ledges get narrow; at other times the dirt gets steep and a little sketchy. Be careful when the ridge is steep, as a slip could be bad. There's one Class 2+ section through some big boulders under a huge block in the middle of the ridge, and the summit is also Class 2+. There's no need to go to the far end of the ridge (unless you really want to), it's under 13,000 feet. |

8/30/2015 Route: Lost Man Lake Posted On: 8/31/2015, By: JasonKline Info: As Chicago Transplant and others have noted in their trip reports, there are a lot of nasty obstacles on the ridge if you approach 13,001‘ from Lost Man Lake. However, you can avoid these obstacles and keep the route to Class 2 by traversing them to the left (while ascending). |
