7/21/2023 Route: from UN 13,300B Posted On: 7/22/2023, By: ScottLovesRMNP Info: Despite being in the vicinity of UN 13,300B, this peak really doesn't pair well with it. The ridge joining the peaks is very long and even longer than the visual distance between the peaks, since the ridge takes a sharp right-angle turn partway along this stretch. The easiest way to climb UN 13,202 is from the opposite side from the ridge that goes from UN 13,300B, so it takes a long time to "go past" this peak to find the easiest way up. Once more, route-finding is important here and many sides of this peak are steeply sloping and loose. There aren't a lot of good ways up this peak, so do your homework in advance on this one. The best way to the summit is from the southwest side, even though you'll be coming from the east if you've tagged UN 13,300B first, as I did. Summer conditions and super views! |
