Our group decided to bring microspikes and ice axes, but we never used them (we saw about 40 people on the trail, one was wearing spikes). The trail was well traveled and the few sections that required traversing snow were hard packed with firm footprints in the morning. Most of the snow can be avoided. We postholed a few times on the descent once it got warmer. Two areas on the descent were perfect for glissading, I used my heels to brake and didn't need the ice ax. |
