My dog and I did Tuning Fork today. The snow is still in great shape...a little sloppy at the bottom, mostly firm (with bootprints!), continuous to the ridge in the left fork. Get on the snow ~0530...it'll be great.

you mean start going UP at 0530, or DOWN? Also, climber’s left, or skiers?

Planning on going up in the morning. How was the river crossing in your car/truck?

Up at 0530. And, climber’s left...what else is there? Har har har.

Sorry, this reply is probably too late to be useful. On the Grizzly Gulch Road, I only drove back ~0.5 mile on 189.1C...wasn’t sure if I would be coming down from the Torreys-Kelso saddle, or just coming down the Stevens Gulch Road. So I didn’t actually drive the big stream crossing(by the log fencing). However, I could have done it no problem...not an issue for a 4WD...saw an older Cherokee just blow through it, and my dog and I got across it on foot. There are downed trees ~0.5 mile from the stream crossing...these block any further vehicle passage. The "turn" for Tuning Fork is not too far past those trees...at the next clearing, which is not immediately apparent in the dark!

We were able to get through in a Forester up to the mud pit. Honestly, that pit has a bypass on the right that we probably would’ve managed as well, but at that point we had stopped to camp and it just didn’t make sense to pile everything back in the car for an extra 0.1 miles. The crossings weren’t too bad...NOTHING like what we saw a week ago in the San Juans.
