I have gear I can loan for the weekend:
-mitt's (two pairs of shells, they're not popular brands but they work, and a pair of warm insulated pair; size lg)
-goggles
-hardshell jacket (xl, Mountain Hard Wear, conduit w/pit zips)
-softshell jacket (xl, Mountain Hard Wear, dragon, w/pit zips)
-down jacket (xl, Mountain Hard Wear, sub-zero, no hood, but it has kept me warm at many ice belays, while wearing helmet & hat)

pm me if interested.

Also, I'd have to carpool whether I drove or not, as I don't have that much gas money and I don't get paid until Tuesday. 17-18 mpg at best in my Tacoma 4X4.
Iv'e got a pair you could use. I weigh about 150ish, Ive used them with an overnight pack making me 180. I don't know how much you weigh but you can try them if you want, I think they're Yukons. Pretty crappy snowshoe overall IMO but they got the job done for me.

Looks like I'm going to end up doing Yale instead, but thanks so much for the offer. Maybe next time, but hopefully by next time I'll own my own pair!

I think I'm going to forego Yale and opt for sleeping on the ground so count me in for this one. I'll spend Friday night at the Mopar Hyatt (back of my Jeep at the TH).

Not a down bag but I do have a -20 Quallofill bag, a +5 WM down bag, or +45 MH phantom if you want to double up. Your welcome to either or all if you want.
That Ham had to be one of the best I have had in quite some time.

They work fine on Quandary or Elbert, Sliverheels and the like. The steeper the terrain or the more scrambling involved the less they work. Uncompahgre has a little scramble. They are a bit sloppy on the foot for the delicate work, virtually impossible to kick steps in firm snow, and won't take a crampon (maybe Kathoolas?) I wore them for may years, but upgraded when 400g thisulate winter boots became available.

What size do you wear? I have some 11.5 or 12s to loan. If you aren't smaller than 11, maybe you could make it up w/ thick socks?

When you have the time and $$, look in to something LIKE this. There are tons of makes/models. They will accept a crampon of the proper style.

I called the Hinsdale County Sheriff to find out about the road conditions. County Rd. 20 (Scenic Byway north) is plowed from Lake City up to the Nellie Creek (County Rd. 23) turnoff (4WD road). We should be able to make it to the parking lot/bathrooms just west of the Nellie Creek Rd and park there.

Note, It's at this point where the road is suppose to be gated and you can't continue on up County Rd. 20 (not that we need to for what we are doing.)

Now, there is snow coming in on Friday/Saturday but the forecast isn't showing for a ton of snow. Hopefully, those driving up on Friday will pack it enough so those coming in Saturday morning can still drive all the way to the gate.

And for those coming who may want this info:

Hinsdale County Sheriff Office: 970-944-2291
Gunnison Dispatch: 970-641-8201 (This # is 24 hours and they take calls after hours for Hinsdale SO.)

From my understanding we can drive to the 4wd TH, set up camp, then Sunday have a 3.25 mile hike to Summit? No backpacking in to campsite? We would be CAR CAMPING?

The post you quoted says the road is plowed to the turnoff for the 4wd road, as opposed to the 4wd TH.

i.e. you've still got to hike the 4wd road as planned (based on this post)

Have fun!
