I am looking to do some of my first class 3 climbs this summer. Ive done a lot of multpitch class 5 rock and ice. The main reason I want to do an easier one is that my dad will be joining me on the climb and hes never done anything with exposure. hes in great shape so that isnt a concern. I also plan to take him up some easier 14ers like decalibron in prep for whatever suggested route sounds the best. Thanks guys!

This is my favorite - east ridge of Father Dyer Peak, near Breckenridge. Derek's report includes completing a loop around the other two higher 13ers that surround the Crystal Creek drainage.

Re: beginner class 3
Kelso Ridge on Torreys has solid rock and the class three sections are nicely broken up into smaller objectives. The knife edge at the end has plenty of exposure but it's very short. Plus it looks like you haven't climbed Torreys, and this route has a lot less people on it. You will probably not pass or get passed by anyone else while you're on it.

And since this topic comes up several times a year, here's my reply from last time (November 2014), which references threads from earlier that reference more threads from still earlier...we're up to four levels now!
