From the start of the Baldwin Gulch 4wd road, walk approx. 1.2 miles to reach the 279 road which starts off to the right. Following 279 is one way to go, but instead continue on the Baldwin Gulch road for another 0.2 mile to reach an old, unmarked road which starts up to the right -
1. Hike up this road for 0.6 miles to join the 279 road, near 10,750' -
2. Continue south on the great road (
3) and switchback up Boulder's northeast slopes. After a long stretch, heading south, turn left to gain a shoulder just east of Boulder's upper east slope. During this slight detour away from the east slopes you'll get some fine views of the remaining route -

Near 12,100', exit west out of the trees and you'll find yourself just below the upper east slopes. Stay on the road (
5) and switch back up the slope before traversing to the north side of the east slopes. Just before reaching the mine area on Boulder's northeast ridge, locate a faint road which climbs up to the left -
6. Ascend this road to reach the ridge crest near some mine holes. If you do continue to the end of the main road, you'll see this -
7. Once on the ridge, turn left and follow a faint trail (
8) up to a false summit (
9) and continue along the ridge (

11) to reach the summit -
