Total cost when I did Orizaba and Izta a few weeks ago was $1000 which included plane tickets, transportation, lodging for a couple nights and food.

The cost of your plane ticket will largely determine how much it is. Once you're there everything is pretty inexpensive. We did it pretty luxuriously, through the Reyes, who are slightly more expensive than other options, and only spent around $1000 for two of us - but that was mostly because we found dirt cheap flights.
