 Late Lincoln

Mt. Lincoln (14,286')
Saturday 14 May 2011, start 0530, summit 0930, truck 1130
Objective: Climb up, Ski down
Players: bckcntryskr, BCDave (BCD), Matty P, Mikey P, Tahoe Clay
Gear: Skis, skins, Whippets
Starting elevation: 10,800 (where we parked the trucks)

We spent the night in the Martin family condo. Got up at 0400 and hit the trail at 0600. We started out skinning. Thinking, wow this great. Then came the "crux" move to the right of the ice falls.

The snowpack has been amazing this year. We are getting a late start because the inbounds skiing has been "February like" well into May. Back to the story.

Once we booted past the ice falls we were able to go back to skinning and making better time.
Then it got steeper and we loaded the skis onto our packs for some good old fashioned boot packing to the summit. What an amazing summit it was. No wind, that's right no wind. Sunny and an endless view of snow covered mountains. We hung for about an hour, soaking it the awesomeness.

Of course all good things lead to more good things. Onto skiing our way down.

We ran into Otina and Kelly on the summit. Another TR for the same day has already been posted. This is for posterity.

We were able to ski from the summit to within a mile of the truck. Amazing day with a great group of backcountry dudes.
